| The Reinforced Concrete Apollo Head Planter is cast with a frost-proof and fiber reinforced concrete. Planter accepts a 4" potted plant or you can plant right in is head. Planter has a drainage hole. The Apollo head planter is adapted from the 4Th Century Greek sculpture of the God Apollo.
Apollo, that bon vivant, Olympian-about-town, god of prophesy, music and healing. Apollo was one of the most important of the Olympia gods. Son of Zeus and Leto, and twin brother of Artemis. Apollo (or, as his westside friends called him, Delian from Delos) was quite heroic. He slayed Python, the fabled serpent that guarded a shrine on the mountains of Parnassus. He was the father of Orpheus and the patron of the Muses. He was associated with law, philosophy, and the arts. He was also a master archer and a fleet-footed athlete, credited with having been the first victor in the Olympic games.
Of course, he was not perfect. Some say he went too far when he tricked his twin sister into shooting her friend in the head with an arrow. He was also rumored to have been involved in a kidnapping, ravishing and subsequent abandoning of the child produced by said ravishing. None of it has been proven.
